Welcome and thank you for visiting our home page
Yama Arashi-Mountain Storm

The primary purpose of this web site is to promote our judo club as well as inform the general public about the sport and history of judo.

Judo is a Japanese Martial Art. It was developed a little over one hundred years ago by Professor Jigoro Kano, a physical education teacher, at Tokyo University. The art of judo, called the "gentle way", is world wide. Judo was the first martial art to be allowed into the Olympic Games and was introduced by Japan in the 1964 games.

There are Judo clubs in every city in Canada. Newfoundland and Labrador has a total of eight clubs in all. There are four in St. John's, one each Corner Brook, Stephenville and Stephenville Crossing along with one more in Goose Bay.
As you browse through our web site, you will notice a number of different rooms (links) leading to other sites. Some are to pages connected to our club, others are links to Judo sites both national and international. We do hope you enjoy your stay with us. If you have time please sign our guestbook, located at the end of the page, before you leave.
